Philadelphia — According to a source familiar with the situation, Avery Williams has resumed light training activities as part of his recovery process, hinting at a potential return ahead of the Eagles' official training camp this summer.
Williams, a dynamic special teams weapon and one of the league's most efficient return specialists, missed the entire 2024 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL during offseason workouts with the Atlanta Falcons. The 25-year-old was waived in 2025 and later picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles, who are in need of a consistent return threat.
Standing at 5-foot-9 and 195 pounds, Williams has built his reputation on explosive speed, field vision, and shiftiness. During the 2022 season, he averaged 16.2 yards per punt return — the highest in the league — and consistently flipped field position in favor of the Falcons. His ability to provide instant momentum and field advantage made him one of the most underrated assets in the NFL’s special teams landscape.
