BREAKING: Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Donates $180K to Honor Iryna Zarutska
Arlington, TX — September 10, 2025 — The tragic death of Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman killed in Charlotte, has continued to stir powerful responses around the world. On Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott became the latest NFL star to step up, pledging a significant donation in her memory.
Elon Musk previously announced a $1 million commitment to fund murals of Zarutska across major American cities, part of an initiative launched by Intercom CEO Eogan McCabe, who also contributed $500,000 in grants for public artwork.
Prescott has now joined the effort with a $200,000 personal donation, saying Zarutska’s story struck him deeply and reminded him of the importance of compassion beyond the football field.

“Sometimes tragedy shows us how connected we all are,” Prescott said in his statement. “Iryna’s life was far too short, but her story can inspire us to do better — to treat people with dignity, love, and respect. My hope is that this small act helps keep her memory alive in a meaningful way.”
The show of support adds to a growing chorus demanding justice. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly called for the death penalty for Dekarlos Brown, who faces a first-degree murder charge tied to Zarutska’s death.
For Prescott, the donation underscores his reputation as both a leader on the field and a voice of empathy off it. By honoring Zarutska’s legacy, he joins a movement that seeks to transform grief into unity and ensure her story resonates far beyond this tragedy.
