Eagles Reunite With Former 1st-Round WR. What It Means?
Philadelphia, May 15, 2025 – In a surprising twist, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed former first-round wide receiver Jalen Reagor to a one-year, $1.5 million contract. The move is designed to add depth behind star receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith as the team gears up for another Super Bowl run.
Reagor, selected 21st overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, struggled during his first stint with the Eagles. Over two seasons (2020–2021), he managed only 64 receptions for 695 yards and three touchdowns in 28 games. His time in Philly was marked by costly drops and two critical muffed punts in the 2022 playoffs.
Following his departure, Reagor bounced between the Vikings, Patriots, and Chargers. He enters this reunion with a career total of 86 catches, 1,037 yards, and six touchdowns, primarily contributing as a return specialist.
General Manager Howie Roseman defended the move: “He’s matured. His speed can add a spark to our offense.” Reagor clocked a 4.47-second 40-yard dash and will compete for the WR3 spot with Jahan Dotson (19 catches, 216 yards in 2024) and rookie Johnny Wilson. He’ll also provide support in the return game alongside Giles Jackson.
Veteran right tackle Lane Johnson added, “He’s got a chip on his shoulder. You can tell he wants this.”
Despite coming off a Super Bowl LIX championship, the Eagles are staying aggressive as they look to repeat. Fans on social media are split—some hopeful for a comeback, others skeptical. “Reagor’s back? He better deliver this time,” one fan posted. Another replied bluntly, “Why are we doing this again?”
With Jalen Hurts leading the offense, Saquon Barkley adding firepower, and Jalen Carter anchoring the defense, Reagor’s return sets the stage for either a redemptive breakout or a familiar disappointment.
