Jets Regret Shunning Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Trade as Star Dominates with Packers
Florham Park, September 14, 2025
The New York Jets are reeling with regret after turning down a trade offer for superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys, a decision now haunting them as Parsons powers the Green Bay Packers to the NFL’s top defense. The costly misstep could have altered their Week 1 fate.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed on 880 ESPN New York that he pitched Parsons to the Jets, asking for Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and draft picks. The Jets, citing a lack of resources, passed, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Instead, Parsons landed with the Packers, transforming their defense.
In two games, Parsons has been a game-changer, racking up 1.5 sacks and eight pressures against the Commanders alone, per PFF. Green Bay’s 2-0 start, holding the Lions to 13 points and the Commanders to 18, showcases the elite defense Jets desperately needed after a 34-32 loss to the Steelers.
Jets fans are fuming on X, with @JetFuelFan tweeting, “We could’ve had Parsons and won Week 1!” The team’s defense, allowing 119 rushing yards against Pittsburgh, lacks the pass-rush punch Parsons provides, leaving new coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey under scrutiny.
With Justin Fields now at quarterback and Aaron Rodgers gone, the Jets’ rebuild looks shakier without a star like Parsons. Their Week 1 defeat might have flipped to a victory with his disruptive presence, raising questions about their “no resources” excuse.
As Parsons prepares to face his old Cowboys team in Week 4, Jets Nation is left wondering what could have been. With their defense exposed and Green Bay thriving, the decision to reject Parsons may haunt New York’s playoff hopes all season long.
